An insightful Study of the Holly Koran leads
us to the fact that God insist on peace in the terrestrial life. As a
reword to the believers’ devotion, he promised them peace in the eternal
life or paradise. The almighty Allah say: « O you who believe! Believe
wholly in that which is revealed to you, and do not follow the footsteps
of Satan, Surely he is to you an avowed enemy». [Surat Al-Baqara/ The Cow,
208].
He Also say: «With it God guide to the way of peace and safety whoever
seeks his good pleasure, and by his grace, bring them out to the straight
path». [Surat Al- Mă'idah/the table, 16].
«But if they incline to peace, then incline to it, and trust in God,
indeed He is the All Knowing». [Surat Al-Anfăl/The spoil of war, 61].
« There is the abode of peace with their Lord, and He is their guardian
for what they were done ». [Surat Al-Anaăm/The cattle, 127].
«Peace upon you for that you were patient, blessed is the ultimate Abode»
[Surat Al-Hijr/The Rock, 45/46].
« Their prayer therein, “Glory be to You O God” and their salutation
therein “peace” and the close of their prayer All praise be to God, the
Lord of the worlds». [Surat Yunus/ Jonah, 10].
The noble Koran is the book that contains peace. The latter appears
clearly and repeated in many of its verses in order to show the great
importance of peace and its vital necessity for mankind, the family , the
society and humanity.
This importance is seen at four levels:
at the level of human being:
Koran insists on the fact that human being has to listen and respond to
innateness as to his internal voice that calls him to believe in the unity
of God.
The almighty Allah say: «Therefore, whoever disbelieves In Satan and
believes in God has taken a firm support that never gives way. And God is
All Hearing, All Knowing» [Surat Al- Baqara/ the Cow, 256].
«Our Lord! We have heard a caller calling to faith, saying, “Believe in
your Lord” So we did believe…» [Surat Ăl-Imran/ the Children of Imran,
193].
When human being responds to his innate call, he will reach the peace of
the soul, the consciousness and the mind. Consequently, he will never feel
stressed or irritable. He will rather live an inner tranquillity and
prosperity.
The Almighty Allah say: «God is the One who sent down serenity on the
hearts of the believers that they may increase in their faith…» [Surat
Al-Fath/ The conquest, 26].
«God sent down His serenity upon his Messenger and the believers…» [Surat
Al-Fath/ The conquest, 26].
The human being then recognizes and understands more the reasons and the
objectives of his existence, and the real aim behind the creation of the
human being is clearly elaborated in many Koranic verses such as:
The Almighty Allah say: «Did you then think that we had created you in
jest, and that you would not be returned to us? So high exalted God, The
True King. There not god but He, The lord of the noble Throne» [Surat Al-
Muaminoon/ The believers, 115,116].
«And I have not created Jin and mankind except that they worship Me».
[Surat Az-Zariăt/ The winds that scatter, 56].
« And we never sent a Messenger before you except that we revealed to him
saying “There is no god but I, so worship Me» [Surat Al-Anbiya/the
prophets, 25].
«Indeed, God Is always with those who are pious, and those who are doers
of good» [Surat An-Nahl/ the Bees, 128].
«And indeed God is always with the righteous» [Surat Al-Ankabout/The
spider, 69].
«Indeed God is with those who are patient» [Surat Al-Baqara/ the Cow,
153].
«And if My servants ask you about Me, Surely I am near, I answer the
prayer of he who calls Me, so let them respond to My call and believe in
Me, that they may be rightly guided» [Surat Al-Baqara/ the Cow,186].
B) At the level of family:
The family is considered as the natural setting for the education of
children. It provides them with a healthy and a sane environment where
they can flourish. The family also sows in them seeds of goodness as well
as the true meanings of fraternity love and peace. That’s why the family
is given a great importance in the Koran. An importance shown through
different aspects:
a) The Koranic verses focus on the sacredness of the marital relationship.
The almighty Allah say: «And from his signs is that he created from
yourselves your wives, that you find serenity with them, and He Has set
mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect». [Surat Ar-Rũm/
the Romans, 21].
b) The role of man within the family is based on consultation rather than
on oppression. Allah say: «Men are the supporters of women because of what
God have bestowed on the one more than the other, and for what they have
to provide( for them) from their resources» [Surat An-Nisa/ The Women,
34].
c) A balance is set up between the rights and the duties of the spouses
with a focus on the rights of the children. Allah the Great say: «…And
women have rights equal to the obligations on them, in all fairness, and
men have a degree of right over them (only in returning them to the bond
of marriage during the proscribed period) and God is Almighty, All Wise»
[Surat Al- baqara/ The Cow, 228].
«O you who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose
fuel is mankind and stones…» [Surat At-tahrim/The prohibition, 6].
« And the (divorced) mothers shall suckle their children for two years
fully, if the father wishes to make complete the term of sucking. The
father, in the fair known way, shall be responsible for their maintenance
and clothing, nor soul is to be burdened with more that it bear, nor
mother is to be harmed because of her child, nor father because of his
child…» [Surat Al-Baqara/the Cow, 233].
d) The establishment of the appropriate means of reconciliation to handle
the possible problems within the family, in order to create a peaceful
relationship between the wife and the husband.
The Almighty Allah say: «…but those women in whom you fear recalcitrance,
admonish them if they persist, forsake their beds, and if they still
persist, hit them in gentle manner (in no way physically harming), but if
they return to obedience to take punitive measures against them. And
surely God is the Most High, The supreme. » [Surat An-Nisa/ The women,
34].
«…And if you fear disunity between them, then send an arbiter from his
side and an arbiter from her side, if they wish for reconciliation God
will effect harmony between them, surely God is All Knowing , all aware»
[Surat AN-Nisa/ The Women, 35].
At the level of society.
Koran provides some necessary elements to build a strongly based society.
Based on peace fraternity and helpfulness. This aspect is seen through
many ways:
a) To sow the true meaning of fraternity between the members of the
society and to reconcile between them whenever there is a conflict.
«The believers are brothers, therefore make peace between your brothers…»
[Surat Al-Hujurat/The chambers, 10].
« No good is there in much of their intimate discourses
except in enjoining charity, righteousness, or amending matters between
people…» [Surat An-Nisa/ the Women, 114].
b) To spread the seeds of forgiveness and love.
«If you do good openly or do it in secret, or pardon an evil, then surely
God is All Pardoning, All powerful. ». [Surat An-Nisa/ the women, 149].
«…But let them pardon and forgive you. Do you not love that God should
pardon you? And God is All Forgiving, Most Merciful» [Surat An-nour/The
light, 22].
«…, but whoever forgives and seeks reconciliation, his reword is with God,
Surely He does not love the evil doers». [Surat Ac-choura/ the
consultation, 40].
c) To expand the values of help and mutual reliance between the members of
the society.
The almighty Allah say: «Cooperate with all in what is good and pious, and
do not cooperate in what is sinful and aggression» [Surat Al-Maida/ the
Table, 2].
«And the believing men and the believing women, they are the friends of
each other…» [Surat Al-Tawba/ The repentance, 71].
d) To expend the moral values and cast off the vices.
The almighty Allah say: «And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet
with one better than it, or return it…» [Surat An-Nisa/ the women, 86].
«And do not hold your head in haughtiness to the people, nor walk in the
land conceitedly, God does not love any proud and boastful one» [Surat
Luqman, 18].
«And good deeds and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is
best». [Surat Fussilat/Expounded, 34].
«O you who believe! A people should not nock another people. It may be
that they are better that them, nor should women nock other women, it may
be that they are better than them, and do not look for fault in one
another, nor defame one another with derisive names…» [Surat Al Hujurat/the
chambres, 11].
«O you who believe! If an immoral one comes to you with tidings, assess it
carefully, lest you should harm a people without knowledge, and then
become regretful for what you have done» [Surat Al Hujurat/the chambers,
6].
« O you who believe! Do not enter houses other than your own houses until
you have asked permission, and given salutation to the people therein»
[Surat An-Nour/ the light, 27].
e) To spread the principles of justice and truth, and fling injustice,
iniquity and riot. The Almighty Allah say: «Most surely God enjoin
justice, the doing of good deeds and generosity…» [Surat An-Nahl/The Bees,
90].
«…, and when you judge between people, that you judge with justice…»
[Surat An-Nisa/ the women, 58].
«…and for the evil-doers there shall be no helper» [Surat Al-Hajj/ the
Pilgrimage, 71]
«…Surely the curse of God is upon the evil-doers…» [Surat Hood/ The
prophet Hood, 18].
«And fear affliction which may not suite those of you in particular who
are evil-doers, and know that God is severe in retribution». [Surat
Al-Anfal/The spoil of war, 25].
The prophet may peace be upon him said: «The Muslim is he who do not harm
others with his tongue and hands»
D) At the level of humanity:
Along side the human being, the family and the society, the Koran draws
lightful lines to humanity and made clear bases to protect it from
delinquency and troubles. It provides healthy conditions to live in
harmony and peace, and this is through:
a) The declaration of equality between the persons and the assertion of
them same origins.
b) To affirm the different human rights and all that protects their
physical and moral existence. This should be within the framework of the
great objectives of Islam.
The rights and human liberties.
Social rights.
Economic rights.
Political rights.
The Almighty Allah say:
«And we have honoured the Children of Adam, provided them with means of
transport on land and sea, and We have bestowed on them good things, and
have preferred them above many of those we created» [Surat Al-Isră /The
nocturnal tripe, 70].
c) Prohibiting transcendence between people, and panning all kinds of
corruption.
The Almighty Allah say:
«That is the blessed Abode of the Heareafter, We shall assign it to those
who do not desire haughtiness for themselves, nor to be corruptive on the
earth…» [Surat Al -qasas/the tales, 83].
«…and do not fear act wickedly, corrupting the earth». [SuratAl-Baqara/
the Cow, 60].
« Do not spread corruption in the earth, after it has been set right»
[Surat Al-Arăf/ The heights, 56].
