Dawa

Introduction

General introduction to "Dawa" (the call to Allah's way)

A) "Dawa" is a legitimate obligation:

Many Koranic verses confirm that "Dawa" is obligatory, among them the following ones:

- The Almighty Allah say: « call mankind to the Way of your lord with wisdom and sound advice, and reason with them in a well mannered way. » [Surat Al Nahl /The bee, 125].

He also say « say: This is my way, I invite to God with sure knowledge, and I call whoever follows me. And glory be to God! Never will I associate partners with God»[Surat Yusef /Joseph, 108].

In fact, the welfare of the Muslim nation is set on its beseeching to do all that is right, and avoid all that is wrong. The Almighty Allah say: « And be a nation inviting to uprightness and enjoining right and forbidding wrong, those they are the successful »  [Ăl Imran /The family of Imran, 104].

He also say: « You are the best nation to have been raised up for humankind. You enjoin what is wrong, and you believe in God…»  [Surat Ăl Imran /The family of Imran, 110].

This obligation is also affirmed by the prophet - may peace be upon him - in many of his Ahadith (sayings). He said: «By God, you would invite to all that is right and forbid all what is wrong, and you would hold the hands of the one who is wrong, and direct him toward the truth, otherwise, God would curse you as he cursed them» "the children of Israel" Reported by El Tabarani, then he recited following verse: «The unbelievers of children of Israel were cursed by the tongue of David, and by Jesus the son of Mary, because of their rebellion and their transgression. They did not forbid each other the wrong things they committed, evil were their doings».  [surat Al- Mă'idah /The Table Spread, 78-79].

B) It is a social necessity:

What is urging to Dawa (the call to Allah's way) is the widespread of disturbance and corruption all over the world, and in all aspect of life (domains); be then political, social and economic.

This corruption leads to Allah's anger and discontent, and it is what the prophet, may peace and blessing be upon him affirmed when he was asked: «Are we going to be perished and there are out of us righteous men? He said yes, if wickedness is spread» Reported by El-Boukhari and Muslim.

The sincere believer is broken-hearted when seeing the spread of corruption in the societies where reverence is violated, and the standards are corrupted and lost. Thus, it is urging to him to carry out reform as to bring those societies into a better state.

C) The merit of Dawa:

Calling to Allah's way is the prophet's mission. God send a prophet that would bring the corrupted and the deviated persons back to straight-forwardness. The Almighty Allah say: «Then we sent Our Messenger in succession, whenever a Messenger came to a people they accused him of falsehood, so we made them mere legends, so away with a people who do not believe! » [Surat Al-Mu'aminoon/The believers, 44]. He also say « And we already have sent among every nation a messenger, saying "Worship God and shun false deities and demons ».  S[urat An-Nahl/The bee, 36].

Once revelation had come to its end with the last messenger Muhammad, may peace and blessing be upon him, that mission was shifted to his followers who were chosen to accomplish it, and teach people right things.

The prophet, may peace be upon him said: «God, his angels, and the people of the heavens and the earth, even the ant in its hole, and fish in the sea are blessing the one who teaches people good things» Reported by El Tirmithi.
