What is the Islamic stance of an Imam who prolongs in the congregational prayer?
The fact of prolonging the prayer embarrasses the sick and those who are unable to stand a lot (the old). In order to remove embarrassment, the Sunna requires moderation (i.e. neither prolonging nor shortening). In this context, Djâbir said: "I was praying with the prophet- may peace be upon him- and both his prayer and speech are moderate". [Reported by Muslim]. |
