Is it permissible to build a mosque in a cemetery which is abandoned since 1880?
This question is asked by the villagers of Thashkirt, Abi Yucef. Building a mosque in such a cemetery is allowed if the following conditions are fulfilled: 1) The non existence of another place available for the building of this mosque. 2) To be careful while digging the graves in order not to break the bones of the dead. The prophet- may peace be upon him- said: « Breaking the bones of the dead is like breaking them while he is alive». 3) To find another place to burry the corpses of the dead, and it is not permissible to gather all the bones in one grave. |
